Baby is growing!
Friday Zibby and I took Henry to the Pediatrician for his month checkup. He was exactly four weeks old. He had gained 2 lbs and 3 oz and grown 2 1/4 inches. That seems like a lot to me, but what do I know? I know that his newborn clothes dont fit him anymore and even 0-3 month stuff is kinda small. Luckily I have lots of friends with sons who have been offering me clothes for him. Last Wednesday we went over to see Misha, Hanna and Jozef, and I came away with two bags of clothes for Henry and Zibby ! I love to see Zibby and Hanna play together. Hanna is exactly one year older, but very similar in temperament to Zibby, and they get along great. Its interesting to see how Zibby behaves with different people. With Hanna she follows, definitely participates, but follows. With some of her other 3 year old friends, she is more alpha. I was trying to think of a nice way to say bossy. lol. And Hanna has a new brother, Jozef who is almost 6 months old. And they live close by, and Misha is really great. She is always laughing and being so Zen about everything.
I feel really lucky to have developed some great new friendships since I became a mom. If I didnt have my tribe, I would be so lost! We’ve gotten meals delivered, second hand clothes and toys, and lots of support. One friend came and took ZIbby to the park so I could take a nap! Thats a great gift!
Anyway, aside from growing like crazy, Henry mostly sleeps and eats. We still have a lot of breastfeeding stuff going on. Besides latch issues, he either has a dairy sensitivity or foremilk imbalance (or both). Ive been half assed-ly avoiding dairy this past week, but today made a firm committment to go dairy free for two weeks. I made it thru today. Food allergy runs in my family, as do conditions worsened by food allergy-such as fibromyalgia and diabetes. If I had to be really honest, I’d say that I think I’d be so much better off if I didnt eat dairy, gluten and soy. But I dont know how to fill up on meat and veggies and fruit. I crave bread. I crave butter and cheesy things. And soy is in everything that is a substitute for those things! I see how sick my mom is with her fibromyalgia, and I read accounts of people who eliminated allergen foods and reversed their fibro symptoms. I have felt indicators of fibro developing in myself, and I feel a renewed dedication to trying to avoid it if I can. There seem to be so many reasons to change my diet…and so many obstacles. Thanksgiving dinner comes to mind. Not getting to eat pizza anymore. Well, baby steps. Lets see if the dairy elimination makes a difference for me or Henry.
I guess its been almost 2 weeks since my sister was here with her daughter.

She has a 4 year old (Happy Birthday Devonney!) and is pregnant with twins. Unfortunately her most recent ultrasound showed that one of the babies doesnt seem to be doing well. It appears not to have grown in the last 4-5 weeks and has hardly any amniotic fluid. My sister is going to a specialist in Cincinnati this week and we’ll know more then, but its not promising. Its really sad. I’m keeping her in my thoughts.
