birthday week has begun
today is the first birthday celebration of the week for Zibby. Catherine and Mike are coming over for dinner. We are serving breakfast burritos, homefries, and waffles. and cupcakes.
Zibby just came up to me and said,
“Mom. What you want to eat? Tater tots or moccasies?”
(I think moccasies is a stab at mostaccioli. She tried another bizarro word for it the other day, and its too cute)
I said, tater tots, but just now she came back and brought me “chicken soup” which is actually a slinky.
Today Girl Scouts was cancelled due to snow. Zibby and had to go mail out the Valentine ATCs though, so we braved the rather deep snow in the parking lot and went out. Then we came home and made frosting for our practice cupcakes.
In honor of Birthday week, I bought a new Kitchen Aid Mixer, empire red. Its inaugural voyage last night was yellow cupcakes. The recipe was from cooks illustrated, and they came out a little odd. The tops were very sugar-cooky-ery and the insides were more like muffins. Very tender and delicious, but muffiny. We managed to eat 7 of the 12 anyway. The remaining 5 I frosted today. I used the cooks illustrated butter frosting recipe cut in 4th, and added some vegetable based food coloring to make them light purple.
I think we shall go forth again into the kitchen and try my Mark Bittman How To Cook Everything cupcake recipe. Any cupcakes still remaining tomorrow noon time shall go with us to Homeschool Coop Gym Day.
In other news, I woke up with a stuffed nose the other day. I am SO TOTALLY NOT GETTING SICK AGAIN. I bought a neti pot and have been cleaning out my sinus/nasal passages or whatever, and it is really helping keep me clear headed.
Also, I discoverd the chicken pot pies are very very good for the afternoon queasies.
One week till we fly to florida. I am allowing myself to begin packing tomorrow. In part this is because it is Birthday week, and we have stuff going on almost every day and night until we leave. In part it is because I am a freak and need to be packed plenty in advance. Buzz on the other hand, packs twenty minutes before we have to leave in the car to go. It makes me INSANE.
anyway. will post more bday week pix later, but I leave you with this image:

I’ve been craving Olive Garden breadsticks all week so we went there for dinner tonight. My brother met us there, but he was disappointed (in the very slow service) and because Zibby had fallen asleep in the car, and then proceeded to sleep all thru dinner. When she did wake up it took a while for her to stop fussing and crying. I did get my fill of breadsticks, though. Yum. Small pleasures.
Well, I think we are coming off of a run of a couple of hard weeks. With the colds, the morning sickness, the winter stir craziness, decreased nursing, and new-baby talk, its been a little harrowing. The house has been a disaster. Ive felt awful. Zibby has been contrary and sick. But, I think we’ve turned a corner. We now have several birthday parties to look forward to (all Zibby’s!) and then our trip to Florida. I am quite excited. I have to prevent myself from starting to pack already!
My m/s has been better these last few days. Ive been drinking more tea and water and avoiding tomato in all forms. Tomato seems to be a real trigger. And I love ketchup and marinara, so its been hard.
Today Zibby and I ran a bunch of errands and got some decorations for her bday. I hung some stuff today for fun. She is very excited about blowing out some candles. We’ve had some practice sessions already
Tomorrow we have Music Together class and then over to the B-Ds for the day. Friday is sewing class, and we get to start sewing our pieces together! Yay!
